It is likely that every Lake Stevens property owner either has been or knows someone who has been affected by cancer in some way. A great way to honor those who have lost their lives, support those who are fighting and those who survived, and to raise money to find a cure, is to participate in the Relay for Life of Lake Stevens. Taking place on Saturday, June 4th, and Sunday, June 5th at Lake Stevens High School, all are invited to form or join a team and participate. The opening ceremony starts at noon on Saturday and brings everyone together to reflect upon the reasons for signing up for this event.
Honor Cancer Survivors on Lake Stevens Property
Cancer survivors will then take the first lap around the track to start things off, followed by the caregiver’s lap to honor those who have cared for and helped loved ones with the fight of their lives. Everyone will then continue to walk through the afternoon and night. A touching luminaria ceremony will take place at 10 p.m. to remember those who have lost their lives, to support those still working through their diagnosis, and celebrate those who have won the battle. This is a great part of the event for Lake Stevens property owners and all participants to work through grief in the shadow of darkness with the glow of the luminaries giving off the light of hope. The closing ceremony will take place at 8 a.m. Sunday morning, a great way to end this time of togetherness and remembrance. Learn more about this event, sign up to participate, or donate to a team at Relay for Life of Lake Stevens.
Zillow lists home prices on their website and calls the home price a Zestimate. Zillow openly, but quietly admits how wrong their home values are at this page http://www.zillow.com/zestimate/#acc
And there has been some press about the Zillow Zestimate and how it puts a value on homes.
But most recently, the CEO of Zillow, Spencer Rascoff sold his own home, AND WOW!!! The Zillow Zestimate is really wrong on the CEO's own home value!!!

"The homeownership rate fell slightly in the first quarter of 2016, dashing hopes that it had finally hit a bottom.
In the first three months of this year, the rate was at 63.5%, not seasonally adjusted. That is down from 63.8% in the fourth quarter of 2015, according to estimates published on Thursday by the Commerce Department. That puts it back near its 48-year low of 63.4% in the second quarter of 2015.
At the end of last year, economists had said the homeownership rate appeared to have stabilized and might begin to tick upward after falling for years following the housing crisis. When adjusting for seasonality, the homeownership rate in the first quarter also fell slightly to 63.6% from 63.7% in the fourth quarter of last year."

Snohomish home owners who love good music and great food should head over to the Hungry Pelican on Thursday evenings. Jeff Crookall & Friends host an open mic and acoustic night every Thursday from 6 to 10 p.m. This is a great opportunity to hear up and coming local musicians performing or participate with an original or cover song yourself. Bring everyone from your Snohomish home along, as this is an all-ages event.
Leave Your Snohomish Home Hungry and Enjoy a Meal Out
Be sure to come hungry, as the kitchen will open at 5:30 p.m. The menu at the Hungry Pelican changes with the seasons and is based on the belief that eating food made from fresh, tasty ingredients shouldn’t break the bank. Breakfast is served all day, featuring farm-fresh eggs and seasonal fruit. There are also lots of soups, salads, sandwiches, and canapes. Kids have a special menu of their own, too. Save room for dessert and try some of the signature French macaroons. Wake up with a cup of freshly-brewed coffee or relax over a beer or glass of wine.
The Hungry Pelican is located at 113 Avenue C. Parking is available for open mic night in the lot across the street, and the lot next door has some business parking spots. Be careful not to park in the spots reserved for residents.

For many obvious reasons, stress is a real bummer, and the more we experience the harder it can be to deal with. Here are a few simple things to try next time you're feeling the pressure or stress of life.
1. Take 10 deep breaths. This may sound a little too simple, but taking 10 deep breaths actually takes a minute or two to accomplish, and while you’re in the process it’s difficult to concentrate on anything else. The process will give your mind a break from stress.
2. Take a walk around the block. Exercise is a known stress reducer, but a full-blown workout is not always feasible in your time budget. A good substitute is a short walk. The increased oxygen and blood flow to the brain will help you think more clearly.
3. Finish something. Sometimes we get so many balls in the air that our minds start to overload. Realize when this is happening and pick one task to complete 100 percent of the way.
4. Stress is a state of mind. Someone once said, "the only stress we experience is the stress we impose on ourselves." Realize that things could probably be better, but they could also probably be worse, and give yourself a little relief.
5. Laugh a little. Watch a funny movie or TV show, or maybe tell some jokes with friends. Laughter cools your stress response and increases your heart rate, making your more relaxed. Our favorite show to watch is Impractical Jokers.
PS: Buying or selling a home can be stressful enough, but experience has shown us that when someone is going through a real estate transaction there is typically another event going on in their life that can also be stressful. Our experience gives us the ability to help make transactions much more stressful, quicker and smoother. If you know anyone thinking of buying or selling, or has real estate related questions or needs help, contact us.
