Quilters living in Monroe have the opportunity to attend Quilters Anonymous 36th Annual Quilt Show at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds from Friday, March 17th through Sunday, March 19th 2017. This is among the largest quilt shows in the region and more than 4,00 visitors are expected to attend this event. Come on out between the hours of 10 a.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday to view over 500 quilts. Stand in awe viewing traditional quilts, art quilts, and other innovative designs. Even though there is no judging and will be no prizes at this show, visitors are sure to be impressed at the level of skill and the amount of time that go into these beautiful and functional pieces of art.

In addition to viewing the quilts, all living in Monroe who attend will be able to be inspired and then shop for quilts, fabrics, and other quilting supplies from vendors at the event. There will be a wealth of knowledge here, so come out and ask questions. Also be sure to check out informational and engaging demonstrations about different quilt making techniques throughout the day. Admission is just $8, and parking is free. The Snohomish Library has many programs and events to offer to Snohomish property owners and their children. The calendar is full and it is great to pop in for an event, then grab some books and movies to take home. Two events coming up soon are a school aged program, an installment of the Curiosity Academy, called Zentangle Art and a business event for adults titled Entry to Apprenticeship. Zentangle Art will take place on Friday, March 10th, 2017 from 3 until 4 p.m. Children ages 7-12 are invited to come and try the Zentangle Method of art. Children can create images by drawing structured patterns called tangles. They will be guided through this process that will be relaxing and fun. Advance registration is required.

Entry to Apprenticeship is an event for adults who are seeking more information about a career in an apprenticeable occupation. It will take place on Monday, March 13, 2017 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. There are many trades out there that let newcomers earn while they learn. This program at the library will give information to Snohomish property owners and all other guests about how these programs work, what the benefits are, requirements, the application process, and timeline. Experience the pioneer lifestyle near Monroe homes. On the weekend of March 11th and 12th at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds, The Cascade Mountain Men Muzzle Loading Arms and Pioneer Craft Show will take place. This event honors significant periods in American history including life in Colonial America, the Civil War, and the Fur Trade. Hours are from 9 a.m to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. 

Get a glimpse into everyday colonial living at the show. Demonstrations illustrate skilled tasks such as wool spinning, blacksmithing, and wood carving. Various vendors showcase a selection of interesting goods including period clothing and native american arts and crafts. View primitive archery, beads, fur and leather goods.

Authentic gun builders will be showcasing traditional muzzle loading firearms. Speak with the experts and learn about the early origins of these traditional American firearms.

Imagine life in Monroe homes during the time period between Colonial America and the Civil War. This weekend historical celebration recognizes the progress of today by turning back to yesteryear. Admission is only $8 for adults. Children under 12 are free, so parents living in Monroe should gather the kids together and make this a family excursion.

Lake Stevens real estate owners have several great classes to take this month. Lake Stevens School District Community Education offers free and low-cost courses for locals to choose from throughout the year. If you’re on the market for Lake Stevens real estate, take the homebuyer education class. The course is free and will be taught by Alis DeFalco. First-time homebuyers are especially invited to the March 7th class. It will run from 6 to 7 p.m. Topics covered include the homebuying process, different kinds of loans, and the advantages and disadvantages of owning a home.

On March 16th, come take the Introduction to Voice Acting. The class will go from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost is $40. A professional voice actor will coach students as they perform a script. The performances will be recorded so that you can have a voiceover evaluation later on.

Finally, get help organizing your money at the Budget Basics class. George Lusk will lead the two-week class on March 22nd and 29th from 7 to 9 p.m. The cost is just $22. Learn how to get out of debt and how to set and keep budget goals.

Spring is a welcomed sight to every Snohomish property and what better way to ring it in for your children is to participate in outdoor events. Girls on the Run not only provides the chance to get some fresh air and exercise, but this program also offers lessons and lots of encouragement for positive self image. The Spring 2017 season kicks off the week of March 13th and will end on June 3rd with the Girls on the Run 5K. This program is for girls in 3rd grade through 5th or 6th grade depending on the site. Heart and Sole is the program for Middle School aged girls and will take place at Gateway Middle School in Everett.

All participants will participate for 10 weeks and receive 20 lessons, a t-shirt, water bottle, healthy snacks at each practice, registration for the 5K, a finisher’s medal, and the chance to participate in a special celebration after the 5K. The cost for registration is $165 for the season, but there is financial aid available to those on free or reduced lunch programs. All coaches are well trained, CPR/FA certified, and background checked. Snohomish property owners can rest assured that their daughters are in good hands with this program. All who live in Lake Stevens and surrounding areas are invited to take part in the upcoming C-Trail Run 2017. This event will take place on March 11, 2017. Even if running is not your favorite past time, there are still plenty of ways to be involved including coming to cheer on the runners and volunteering. This C Run starts at the 20th St. NE Centennial Trailhead. Those planning to run in the race can choose from either the 5K distance or the 10K distance. There is even a half mile run available to the kids, beginning at 7:45 a.m. The adults will warm up beginning at 8 a.m., the 10K starts at 8:15 a.m. and the 5K takes off at 8:20 a.m.

If interested, sign up soon because early registration ends at 12:01 a.m. on February 28th. After that date, the price keeps going up until race day. Feel good about participating in this run that will not only provide a morning of great exercise and camaraderie, but also benefit many people who live in Lake Stevens. Part of the proceeds will go toward funding the “Leader in Me” program available at several LSSD schools that helps teach our kids to be future leaders. Calling all train enthusiasts who live in the Monroe real estate area and surrounding cities! The United NorthWest Model Railroad Club invites everyone to enjoy the 26th Annual Washington State Model Train Show and Marketplace. The event will be held at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds on Saturday and Sunday, February 25th and 26th. Admission for adults is $8; for seniors and those aged 10 to 18, it’s $6; kids nine and under get in free with a paid adult. All the proceeds from ticket sales go to benefit the Snohomish County 4-H Foundation.

This Monroe real estate location will be entirely dedicated to model trains for the weekend. There will be a large number of vendors selling anything and everything you need to perfect your model train set up. Clinics will be held throughout the fair as well.
