Fall out for fun on Monroe property. BINGO, Brats and Beer is marked on the calendar for Friday, October 13th at 6 p.m. Celebrate Oktoberfest at the East County Senior Center with some serious bingo! Frequent participants in the activity come with game faces on. An admission fee of $20 benefits the center and earns a spot at the dinner table and top action in the game. Beer and wine are ready to be served for an additional charge. Early birds can collect their papers at 5:30 p.m. Tickets to the event can be purchased online.

BINGO enthusiasts hang out at the East County Senior Center on a regular basis. Each and every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon a friendly crown gathers for the chance of winning the jackpot. Twelve regular games are only $1 with the first game starting at 12:45 p.m. Bingo is a blast and the energy is high. Mark Friday Night Bingo on your calendar. Theme nights increase the merriment and foster a light-hearted atmosphere. The Ten Commandments of the Game remind one and all not to covet neighbor’s winnings, steal their lucky seat or plan the death of the caller. Here rivalries are all in good fun and faces are filled with smiles while laughter rings out in the room.

This Monroe property is dedicated to the prosperity of citizens in their golden years. With a mission of “promoting physical, emotional and economic well-being of older adults and their participation in all aspects of community life, activities and special events are carefully thought out.” Weekdays are filled with rotating activities encouraging camaraderie among members. Classes range from woodworking to fitness to guitar. Exercise is key and there is always some type of fitness instruction in session. Health screenings make sure folks are taking care of themselves and include hearing, blood pressure and dental. Caregiver workshops are a valuable resource and support system for family members nurturing the elderly.

The Snohomish River Run is coming to the area near Snohomish real estate. This signature event of the Snohomish Running Company will take place on Sunday, October 15th, 2017. Whether an avid runner and hoping to participate, or a fan that would like to come out and support those running, it is sure to be a fun day. This event is a USA Track and Field certified marathon. Runners can choose from a marathon, half marathon, or 10K run along the beautiful Snohomish River and through Historic Downtown Snohomish. The temperature should be pleasant for a run. Come out for your first racing event, seeking a new personal best, or to qualify for another marathon.

At this point, early reduced pricing and a complimentary race shirt has passed, but there is still time to register. The cost is $85 for the full marathon, $75 for the half marathon, and $50 for the 10K. Finishers will receive a medal, and there will be chip timing. Part of every race entry will go to benefit Girls on the Run Snohomish County. This is a very worthy charity partner, as it aims to empower young girls through running. What a great way to be active and meet new friends.

Those participating in the race can pick up their packets on Friday, October 13th from Super Jock n Jill in Greenlake from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. or Saturday, October 14th from Frost Donut in Mill Creek from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. On race day, the full marathon will start at 7:30 a.m., and the half and 10K will start at 8 a.m in downtown Snohomish. All residents are invited to watch out from their windows or walk down from their Snohomish real estate to cheer on those running in the race. As leaves drift down from tree limbs, hints that fall is in the air surround Monroe homes. Celebrate the season at Lake Tye Park for the Harvest Festival. Occurring on Saturday, October 7th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. a light hearted schedule makes for a full day. In the pumpkin patch, pumpkins of all sizes lay in wait for those searching out the perfect specimen for jack o'lanterns. Autumn crafts bring out the creative side of participants while live music keeps spirits high. When the children are playing, adults can mingle in the beer garden. Here high quality beers and wines are ready to be served. Hungry tummies are easily satisfied with food trucks parked on the grounds and cooking up good stuff. Vendors eagerly display handcrafted items tempting shoppers glancing by. With an assortment of goods from candles to jewelry this is the perfect time to do some early Christmas shopping. Admission is free, so dress the kiddos up in their costumes and head on down for some fantastic fall fun. 

Look out for zombies and monsters on the run close by Monroe homes. Don’t be alarmed if you spot these scary creatures. They may just be participants in the 2017 Zombie Fun Run and 5k. Witches, goblins, wizards, zombies and more gather at the starting line. At 10 a.m. the whistle is blown for the 5k and the monsters and ghoulish participants are off. Swift feet finish fast but encouragement is high for those crawling and dragging themselves across the finish line too. Motivation pays off with generous cash prizes. The jackpot climbs with the number of runners in the race. Cash amounts will be awarded to first, second, and third place winners. Racers embracing the Halloween spirit compete for the Best Zombie Costume prize which takes away twenty-five percent of the winner’s pot. At 11 o’clock the Fun Run begins. The course runs along Lake Tye’s shoreline and all ages are welcome to hit the road. Tots riding in strollers are fine but other wheeled objects such as bikes and scooters are not allowed. Register for the Zombie Fun Run and 5k online.

Fall is a wonderful time to live in Lake Stevens. The crispness of the air paves the way to numerous activities throughout the region. Carleton Farms will be a busy place the whole season and the festivities will kick off on Saturday, September 30th with Brewfest 2017. Take this opportunity to sample the best brews from a large number of local breweries while enjoying the lovely farm scenery, listening to good music, and munching on a yummy pumpkin donut.

The beer tasting area will be in the barn and only open to those 21 and over. Children can come too as long as they stay in Carleton’s Pumpkinland. Choose from a 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. time slot or a 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. time slot. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. The net proceeds of this event will go to Grow Washington, which is a non-profit whose goal is to help small businesses. Visit Carleton Farms to purchase tickets. While you are at the Carleton Farms website, be sure to check out all of the other fall festivities going on this year.

Make lasting memories with the whole family by coming out to the pumpkin patch. Explore Carleton Farms to choose the perfect pumpkin and find a long list of other fun things to do. Get lost in the corn maze, jump on the new giant pumpkin jump pad, let the kids run around in the outdoor play area or if the weather is poor, hang out in the kids barn. Go for a hayride and watch the joy on your children’s faces as they ride on the bucket train. Find farm animals, food and snacks, a zip line/swing, and yes, even a pumpkin cannon. Shop at the Farm Market to grab some fresh produce to take home. All who live in Lake Stevens and the surrounding areas are also invited to Carleton Farms at night. Try out Zombie Paintball, Haunted Swamp, Dark Maze, and Zombie Farm. The pumpkin patch and corn maze is open every day from September 30th through October 31st and the nighttime activities occur on the weekends starting October 6th.

There is a wonderful way for those residing in Snohomish properties to make a difference in their community. The 2017 Snohomish County Buddy Walk® is coming to Snohomish on Saturday, September 30th, 2017. Come on out to Harvey Airfield at 9900 Airport Way from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. for the walk, games, food, and fun. Even if your schedule does not permit coming to this event, find someone who is participating and make a donation, or register as a virtual walker to collect money for this worthy cause.

The Down Syndrome Association of Snohomish County (DSASC) will use the money raised from this event to support many programs that are available to those with Down syndrome and their loved ones. This association works hard to bring people together in settings such as playgroups and activities that include swim parties, spring break events, karaoke dance parties, and many more throughout the year. DSASC is also very committed to education. They bring in quality speakers and also fund a scholarships to conferences. Programs for teens and adults are also a top priority for DSASC.

It is very easy to register for this event, which uses DonorDrive. Sample emails are available to send to friends or family members to tell them about the event and ask for their support. Donations can easily be made online. The team that collects the most in donations will even win a four night stay at a home on the stunning Lake Wenatchee. Raffle tickets are also on sale for $5 each and includes such prizes as golf lessons, sky diving certificates, a Kindle Fire 8 Tablet, a coffee and chocolate basket, and many more. The afternoon is sure to be jam packed with fun and a sense of belonging. Everyone living in Snohomish properties are invited to join in and support DSASC. Dedicate some time paying it forward on Monroe real estate at the H3 Horses Healing Heroes 5K. Located in picturesque Lake Tye Park, this 2nd annual event treks through peaceful and scenic park landscapes. The run benefits military veterans suffering from PTSD and traumatic brain injuries. Runners find their spots at the starting line, stretch and get ready to move out promptly at 10 a.m. 

Horses Healing Heroes Founder Arlene Gibson discovered the soothing benefits of being surrounded by horses by helping a friend. Offering licensed equine therapy and housing to those truly in need became a cause and a mission. Opening her property and her heart, members of the military are welcomed with open arms and understanding. A $25 entry fee charged to participants of the 5k goes towards the construction of cabins on the sanctuary allowing for longer stays with the horses. The farm provides a safe place for America’s bravest to heal in safety, solitude and at their own pace. 

Race day promises to be fun filled. By taking part in the 5K parents show their kids by example how important it is to support members of the community and to honor those who have served. After the run the day is still young .Once at the finish line, participants can enjoy the rest of their afternoon at the park.The lake is sure to beckon friends and neighbors to its shoreline. Now it's time to soak up the sun and stick toes in the sand. Little ones love to splash in the water or frolic on the Lake Tye Park playground. At the basketball court neighbors are sure to be shooting hoops. Barbeques are at the ready for grilling up hot dogs and hamburgers. Picnic blankets will be spread out with deliciousness with runners having worked up an appetite.

Feel good in mind and body by joining in the H3 Horses Healing Heroes 5K. Run, jog or walk. These simple steps taken go along way in helping America’s wounded warriors. Return to a bygone era while spending some time away from your Snohomish home and participating in the Snohomish Tweed Ride. This event will take place on Saturday, September 23rd from 10 a .m. until 2 p.m. Go back to when English families would put on their best clothes, make a picnic lunch, take the train with their bicycle to the countryside and then ride all the way home. The London Tweed Run has been a tremendous success and many other cities have followed suit, including Stockholm, Sao Paolo, and San Francisco. This is the third year that this ride has taken place in Snohomish. It is great fun, and who knows, maybe this will become a regular activity for your family.

There are several ticket options available and many ways to participate. Feel free to gather along the route to smile at all of the well dressed individuals on their bicycles. Come to participate in the picnic portion only for $15. Tea and tasty treats will be available. The Tweed rider ticket is also $15, which goes toward participation in the ride as well as lawn seating at the picnic. Lastly, there is a new “Blue Ribbon” ticket for $22, which includes participation in the ride, plus a spot at a table and personal tea service. The first 100 ticket holders will definitely receive swag, and all riders will get tea, treats, keepsakes, and entertainment.

Check in and registration begins at 10 a.m. at Snohomish Carnegie, located at 105 Cedar Avenue. Be sure to bring your Paypal receipt--this is your ticket. Children under five can ride for free, but will not get any swag. All proceeds from this fun event go to help the Historic Downtown Snohomish Association keep working on the task of revitalizing and beautifying downtown. The ride begins at 11 a.m. when riders will head toward the Centennial Trail. Feel free to stop for diversions on the way to Machias Trailhead Park, where there will be tea, a place to have your picnic, and many amusements between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Be ready for croquet, badminton, photo opportunities, music, and much more. There will be prizes for the best dressed ladies and gentlemen on bicycles, so have a great time putting together your costumes with family and friends. Head back to downtown Snohomish whenever you wish. The ride is an 11-mile round trip. Calling all Zombies living in Snohomish. All are invited to downtown Snohomish for a ghoulish walk on Saturday, September 16th, 2017 from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m. This is the fourth year for this event, which benefits the Snohomish Food Bank. All participants and spectators are asked to bring food donations to help those living in Snohomish who are in need. The staff from the Snohomish Food Bank will be on site starting at 4:30 p.m. to accept the food donations. Help this organization get a bunch of food ready for the colder months and holiday season.

All zombies are asked to park on the street and meet at the Carnegie Parking lot, located at 105 Cedar Avenue in Snohomish between 4:30 and 5 p.m. Be ready right at 5 p.m. for important instructions and guidelines for the walk. The disheveled zombies will begin their slow limping and lurching at 5:30 p.m. They will travel west down 1st Street to Avenue D and then make a U-turn to head back toward 1st Street. Zombies must stay on the sidewalk only and will be walking about half a mile. Come participate in the spectacle or just sit back and watch. It is sure to be entertaining. This is no small matter, and there is a huge opportunity to help those in need while having a great time with friends and family members. What fun it would be to pick out zombie clothes, rip them up and make them dirty. Also don’t forget a little makeup and other accessories to truly become a believeable member of the undead. Get in the spirit of Fall and look forward to Halloween and all that this time of year brings.

Lake Stevens property owners expand their minds at the library. With a calendar filled with activities the Lake Stevens Library has a bit of something for everyone. From the very young to those in their golden years diverse interests are well represented. Upcoming activities in the month of September include Mindful Movement, Fall Storytime and Brushbot Derby.

Exercise with gentle motion during the Mindful Movement class. Taking place on September 16th from 11 a.m. to noon, this class focuses on mental clarity and softly flowing techniques. The body and brain work together as one fluid machine. Mindful Movement exercise programs focus on a goal of stronger breathing and increased body maneuverability. Participants are asked to bring a mat and towel. Towels are used to support the head during class time, while mats add a bit of cushion. Advanced registration for those 16 and older is required. Classes fill quickly so don’t wait.

Get ready for the Kick Off of Fall Storytime with Caspar Babypants. Designed for the little ones living on Lake Stevens property, this class is filled with giggles and laughter. Caspar Babypants leads youngsters and their parents in interactive songs and games. Guitar in hand this creative funny guy sings with silliness about animals, nature and more. Scheduled for September 21st storytime starts at 10:30 a.m. Don’t miss this fun filled hour of song. Grandparents are welcome to come and sing along too.

Recognized as an integral part of all educational programs, S.T.E.M. projects are in demand. Friends of The Lake Stevens Library are happy to present the Brushbot Derby Workshop. Open to children aged 11 to 18, kids have the opportunity to construct a robot with a motor, battery, and toothbrush. Innovation is key and minds will be moving as they figure out the best designs. Register early for this worthy event on September 22nd from 3 to 4 p.m. An afternoon of deep thinking and amusement awaits.
