A new tradition will come racing into town near your Monroe property this June. The 1st Annual Pinewood Derby Day Car Races will take place on Saturday, June 2nd 2018. Come on out to the Monroe Community Senior Center located at 276 Sky River Pkwy to take part in the races or just to watch. Check in is at 11 a.m. and the races begin at 12 p.m. Pre-registration is required and the cost is $10 per racer. Anyone who wishes to watch and cheer on the participants can do so for free. Enjoy lunch at the races. Get a hot dog, chips, and a drink for only $5. This event has been put together by the Lions Club of Monroe Washington, Monroe Community Senior Center, Monroe Chamber of Commerce, and Monroe Boys & Girls Club. The Lions Club of Monroe has been hard at work building the track and they will be in charge of managing the racing. Another added bonus to this fun day is that people from the Evergreen Speedway will be in attendance with their lead race car.
Anyone who wishes to take part in the race can purchase a kit from Ben Franklin or Amazon. Put the car together and decorate it at your Monroe property before coming to the races.
