Local folk look to the frog, Snohomish Slew, to forecast the upcoming weather. The fun begins with ribbets and croaks January 28th on downtown Snohomish real estate. For 12 years and counting, the community gathers together in anticipation of Slew’s forecasting. Will the arrival of sweet spring be forthcoming or frost of winter remain? Hop on over to Avenue A & First Street for the presentation of Snohomish Slew’s prediction. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. this community celebration is in full swing.
The day is all about entertainment. Music fills the air while dancers demonstrate flawless moves. Kids compete in friendly games and create crafts. Imaginations soar as future firefighters climb aboard Fire District 4 engines. Commemorative photos of Snohomish Slew and all his friends mark the occasion.
Competitive spirits eagerly anticipate the Lazy River Frog Race. Spectators cheer for lively racing frogs. Prizes are awarded to top three frogs hopping past the finish line. Everyone else will be green with envy. Racing frog tickets can be pre-purchased at the Snohomish Aquatic Center and Brava’s Pizza & Pasta. Proceeds benefit Swim For Life, a program providing swim lessons for elementary students from Snohomish homes.
