The Monroe Family YMCA offers many recreational opportunities to lose living in Monroe properties. One upcoming event that aims to support youth programs in the Monroe/Sky Valley area is the 9th Annual Sky Valley Classic. Runners can choose from a 10K, 5K, or 1 mile run through Monroe and Sky River Park on Saturday, October 28th 2017. Early bird registration has already ended but the regular pricing of $35 is still available. Kids ages 6-15 pay their age for the 5K and 10K, and the one mile run is $15 for all who participate.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m. at the race site, located on the 100 block of Main Street in downtown Monroe. The 10K will begin at 10 a.m., the 5K will begin at 10:05 a.m., and the one mile will begin at 10:08 a.m. After the main event, children are also invited to take part in the Kiddie Dash. There will be chip timing, a costume contest, and awards for the top racers in each category. The races are wheelchair and stroller friendly. Even if running is not your thing, consider coming out to cheer on the runners and enjoy the day. Read more about the Sky Valley Classic and register.
