Equine Aid Horse and Donkey Rescue is a non-profit organization that calls Monroe home and works hard to rescue and rehabilitate these amazing animals. The founder, Doug Arneson, his group of dedicated volunteers, and Petey the resident donkey work hard on this 10 acre property to care for the animals and look for adoptive families. Come check out this impressive operation on Saturday, April 22, 2017 for the first Open Barn of the year.
Come meet the majestic creatures, some of whom are adoptable and others who are in training or in sanctuary. Learn more about rescue and adoption and think about the possibility of bringing an animal to your Monroe home. What a great gift to give a horse or donkey who has had a rough go at life. There were 12 adoptions in 2016 and hopefully many more will follow in 2017. Ask questions and see if this could be a good fit. Even if your property is not equine friendly, horse and donkey enthusiasts are still invited to get outside, enjoy the fresh air, and spend some time with the animals.
