Live in Monroe and go to the triathlon.All who live in Monroe are invited to participate in or come watch the 7th Annual Lake Tye Triathlon. This event will take place on August 6th, 2016 and will include races in the Sprint, Olympic, and youth categories. A friendly collegiate challenge will take place as well. All participants need to be a member of the USAT, or will need to pay an additional $15 for a one day license to participate. The swimming portion will start on the beach of Lake Tye at 8 a.m. on race day. The adults will race first, and the youth will take their turn second. This is a great course for all racers, from beginners to seasoned veterans. It is also very spectator friendly, so come on out to cheer on all of these amazing athletes.

People of All Ages Who Live in Monroe Will Compete

The entry fee includes a yummy pancake breakfast following the race, swim cap, chip timing, a goody bag, and finisher medal. There will be awards for the top three finishers in each age group. The distances for the sprint event are a ¼ mile swim, 14 mile bike ride, and 3.1 mile run. Participants in the Olympic race will swim 1500 m, bike 28 miles, and run 6.2 miles. The youth distances will vary depending on age and participants ages 6-15 are welcome. All participants must register by 12 p.m. on August 5th. Even if competing in a triathlon is not your thing, all who live in Monroe are invited to come marvel at the level of athleticism and cheer for the racers.
