Residents who live in Lake Stevens can celebrate the Fourth of July with an invigorating morning run with the annual Yankee Doodle Dash. Conveniently located at the Everett YMCA, the Dash is perfect for any level of athlete. Beginning at 8:30 a.m., a mile, 5k, 10k, and children’s race are scheduled. With a flat course competitors can expect to run their fastest times. Prizes and awards will be presented. The Kiddie Doodle Dash begins around 10:30 and is designed for the youngest of Lake Stevens residents and those residing in the surrounding areas. Following the activities will be the City of Everett’s Fourth of July parade allowing participants to continue in the celebration of the holiday. Wear red, white and blue proudly and cheer from the sidelines as the community wishes America a Happy Birthday. Marking its 17th year, the 2016 Yankee Doodle Dash benefits the YMCA Livestrong program. The Livestrong mission is to assist cancer survivors in restarting their lives and regaining their confidence.
