Monroe property owners looking for a place to connect with neighbors who love books know that the library is the place to be. But did you also know that the library also offers help for people looking for jobs or career advice, as well as those who want to better understand their healthcare options? Come to the Monroe Public Library on Wednesdays for both of these services. Job help is available on a drop-in basis from 9 a.m. to noon. WorkSource specialists are on site and ready to answer questions about how to build a stronger resume, as well as offering career coaching. Whether you’re looking for a job, want to re-enter the workforce, or are looking to advance your career, the WorkSource team has valuable advice and insight to offer you. There is no charge for the service, and you don’t need to RSVP. Just come with your questions.
Lots of people have questions about how the Affordable Care Act (also called Obamacare) applies to them. And many also have questions about Washington Apple Health and whether they qualify. The library has Sea Mar CHC representatives on hand to answer all your questions on Wednesdays from 2 to 5 p.m. Representatives will also help people to sign up for Medicaid or low-cost healthcare options using the Washington HealthPlan finder. Those who qualify can also apply for food stamps or cash assistance. If you need help renewing your plan, feel free to come in as well.
Be sure to keep up with the library’s monthly, weekly, and one-time events. Monroe property owners can bring their young children to story time on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Little Science Lab is held on Mondays and is a great way to introduce preschoolers to the wonders of science and nature. Adults can participate in the monthly book club and also come on Saturdays for lively, respectful conversation at the Socrates Cafe. For anyone who wants to improve their English language skills, the ESL/ELA Conversation Cafe on Saturday mornings is a fun place to go and meet others.
