Enjoy library events near your Lake Stevens home.Grab some books, music, and movies to take back to your Lake Stevens home while attending one of the many programs available at the Lake Stevens Library during the month of June. There is something for every age and this is the month is also the kick off for the summer reading program. Get your children excited for the upcoming summer program by attending one of the events earlier in June. Preschoolers are invited to the library every Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. for Little Science Lab. Youngsters can learn about math, science, technology, and engineering in partnership with Imagine Children’s Museum. Caregivers are required to stay and be sure to register early to ensure a spot. Elementary aged students can participate in Reading with Rover on Saturday, June 9th from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Kids love reading to loving dogs. It can really boost their confidence.

Explore Summer, the summer reading program, kicks off on Monday, June 18th from 1 to 2 p.m. with the Matt Baker Comedy and Stunt Show. This event will take place at the Lake Stevens Boys and Girls Club located at 1609 East Lakeshore Drive in Lake Stevens. Everyone will have a great time laughing and being amazed by the stunts. Another installment of Explore Summer will take place on Thursday, June 28th with the African Beats Workshop. Come to the library from 10 to 11 a.m. to learn West African rhythms on drums, bells, and shakers. Artists from Gansango African Music and Dance will be on site to instruct the children.

Adults who call Lake Stevens home have plenty of chances to get involved and attend events at the Lake Stevens Library as well. A Friends of the Library Meeting will take place on Tuesday, June 5th from noon to 1 p.m. Come discuss ways to support the library and connect with others who also appreciate its value. Another event for adults is an opportunity to learn more about Alzheimer’s. The Alzheimer’s Association of Washington will be at the Lake Stevens Educational Service Center on Thursday, June 7th from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. to give the community more information about Alzheimer’s and answer questions.
